Old PT-500 lunchbox walkie-talkie radio, HT transceiver with case

Vintage Motorola portable "lunchbox" FM radiophone transceiver with an olive-drab khaki canvas carrying tote or case. This is a "Motorola PT500 - Handie-Talkie Radio", a portable two way radio with a hand held microphone.

We're not sure of the exact vintage of this radio, but were told probably from the 1960s or 1970s.

This radio is marked as a model "33BBM1110A", and is marked for transmitting and receiving on radio frequency 158.145 MHz". The radio measures about 8" x 8" x 4", not including the whip antenna.

This FM walkie-talkie radio is from the estate of an industrial communications engineer and shortwave / ham radio enthusiast. The plastic case of this radio is in nice shape with no major chips or cracks. However, the battery terminals in this case are badly corroded and one of the springs is broken off and it will need work. The whip antenna is also broken near the connector and will need to be repaired.

We tested the transmitting and receiving capabilities of this radio with the base and antenna off of a different unit and it both transmits and receives. But this radio was in storage in an attic for many years and has dust and soil from storage and we are assuming that you'll need to do some tweaking, tuning etc to this radio. The canvas bag case is faded, worn and has two holes in the bottom.

We are selling this vintage radio for restoration or repair.
