vintage toy sewing machine retro pink & orange plastic case, not working nice for parts or display

Vintage Zig Zag zigzag stitch portable electric sewing machine, 70s vintage. This is a real machine in a small size for a girl, measures just 11" x 9" x 5" over the closed case. The label is Saitama - Japan, made for JC Penneys. It's complete with cord and the original instructions.

We can't get this to work, and aren't sure how to best take it apart because of the way the plastic housing is put together. But it's possible this might be repairable if you know what you're doing! Or be useful for parts.

We love it for it's small cute size and bright retro colors, and think it would be a great display piece for a studio, craft space or sewing room just as it is. There's a crack to the top of the case, but aside from that, cosmetic condition is very good.
