Vintage Mayfair model 400 reel to reel tape recorder or player, Japan

Mid century vintage, Mayfair portable transistor reel-to-reel tape player / recorder. This player is marked as model 400 and made in Japan. It measures about 11" wide (side to side), 8.5" high and 3.75" thick. It has one 5" plastic reel.

This tape player is marked for 9 volts and can run off either a power adaptor or batteries. We tested it with a 9 volt transformer (NOT INCLUDED) and this works. It is in nice condition with light wear.
