Vintage salad set, knife, fork & spoon w / hand-carved wood figures

Retro vintage wooden salad servers, from Polynesia or Africa, we think? We have no idea what type of wood this is, sorry!

These are too beautiful to use (though we we believe they were made for actual use as utensils), with silky smooth carved wood figures, and wire hangers on each. These pieces are about 14 1/2" long end to end.
