1920s - 30s vintage ladies clutch purse, art deco tooled leather envelope

1920s or 30s antique tooled leather clutch purse, 7" x 4 1/2", with a wide strap down the back. (This doesn't work well to carry this at an attractive angle - we've tried it! - but might be to fasten to a belt or luggage strap for traveling?) This was used as a travel bag wallet, we know, as the name and address of the former owner are written on the cotton lining fabric in pencil.

The leather exterior looks good overall, very supple, no chipping or brittleness. It does need cleaning. The cotton lining material is worn and frayed, with soil marks from use and storage.
