Rustic vintage pottery cow butter dish or jam pot, 70s 80s Japan stoneware

Vintage Japan stoneware butter dish or jam pot with a notched lid to hold a spoon or spreader - it's probably meant for a margarine dish rather than stick butter as the cow is short and fat! (This measures 4 3/4" long overall.)

It's rough rustic textured ceramic, and does show a few marks and scratches. No chips or cracks, and it's very clean inside.
